Out for a drive in Barbados

Just another one of those days when a timeout was needed.

Chattel house.

Another chattel house.  This one is not as nice as the other one.

Barbados Green Monkey.  We saw this one at Sam Lord's Castle.  Sam Lord's Castle is a ruin, it burnt in a fire, it was a hotel after Sam Lord died.  Sam Hall Lord was a notorious buccaneer.  The castle was built in 1820.

This base of a windmill has been turned into a nice observation tower.  It is on private land so we could only get a picture.

While we were out we went to Codrington College.

The lane leading to Codrington College

The main building.

The drip stone.  Water was put in at the top and passed through the coral vessel that can be seen in the interior.  This process was used to purify the water.

Just had to take this picture.  It is of the latrine.  Well, even then it was needed.

Short trip up the west coast of Barbados.

Sometimes you just have to get out of the office.

Sunset, trees, sailboats and ocean.  What else is needed?

Oh yah, a good looking gal to be with.

Sharon Primary School Graduation

We were invited to the graduation ceremony at the Sharon Primary School.  This is the same school where we refurbished the play ground.

Mrs. Small-Williams principal giving here remarks about the past school year.

Top male student and mother.  His mother presented him with his award.

Top female student and father.  Her father presented her with her award.

Students presenting a play about staying in school and getting an education.

The students presenting a dance.  This was fantastic.

Just a Little Time by the Beach.

Time for a  reset, so off to the beach we go.

Sister Moore at the beach.  With all that seaweed we didn't feel like swimming.

Who knows what kind of animal/reptile will be lurking in the sand.  We came across this creature while walking on the boardwalk.

How's this for a bunch of crabs?  They blend in with the rock.  The ones on the beach are the same color as the sand.

This mural is made from broken china.

Don't you just love the detail.

Now that's a pile of seaweed.

Seaweed everywhere.

Sleeping a little better now.

On a trip to Grenada we looked for ways we could help the people.  One of the projects we were able to find was with the Richmond Home for the Elderly.  The Richmond Home is run by the Grenada Government and cares for those who would otherwise be on the street.

We provided 18 new mattresses for the home.  Here the mattresses are loaded for delivery at the manufacturer in Grenada.

The kitchen needed a food processer.  Here is the heavy duty model we found in Grenada.  The food processer will allow the staff to meet the special dietary needs of the elderly.  Elder Monk is with the kitchen staff and others working at the home.

Brother Stewart with his father who is a resident of the home.  Brother Stewart brought the needs of the Richmond Home to the attention of Elder and Sister Monk, Senior Couple in Grenada.  We visited the home with Elder and Sister Monk and saw the need. A really good project and a benefit to those who have so little.
