Touring Babados

Random travels around Barbados

Admiral Nelson's Column in Bridgetown, Barbados.
This is in Trafalgar Square - same name as the one in England but this one was first.

Looking across the wharf and the marina in Bridgetown, Barbados.

On the cliff at East Point Light House.

East Point Lighthouse.

Sister Moore being brave standing on the overhang.  Elder Moore was encouraging her to jump up and down.  She wouldn't do it.

Yes he really did come to Barbados.  The only time he ever left the US.

George Washington slept here.

Another pretty beach near Bridgetown.

The pier in Speightstown, Barbados

How's this for a photo op?  We saw her in Speightstown and had to stop and get a picture of her weaving a basket.

February 2014 Welchman Hall Gully

Thought we'd go to the Gully.

Turned out it was a chicken project!!!!
Wonder which chicken collects the entrance fee?

Who says there's no mountains in Barbados?
Well OK.  They were just hills.

But it's a long way up there, you come down.

Who's older Sister Moore or the Tree?
Sister Moore is always talking about her roots (genealogy).

Sister Moore in the Nutmeg grove she almost got hit on the head by a Nutmeg nut.  She wouldn't stand there any longer!!!!!

Feeding time for the Barbados Green Monkey.
Sister Moore had to hold on to Elder Moore.  He wanted to join them.

Now that's really up a tree.

Here monkey, monkey, monkey.

Some flower Sister Moore liked.

Bird of Paradise.

Sister Moore liked this one too!!!

Very nice place to visit.  We'll have to go back at a different time of year to see what is out.

A Little Bit of This and That.

Pictures from around the town and or our apartment.

Barbados Light and Power Building this is where we sometimes pay the electric bill.

Plaque on the Barbados Light and Power Building.

Just a ship passing in the night.  OK it wasn't night but it wasn't very far off the coast either.  Picture taken from our enclosed veranda.

Bad shoe day!!!
Some things wrong.  My flip flops feel funny.  Sure wish I was awake!!!!
And to think she was going to make breakfast - yikes!!!!!

 New amusement ride?
My what fun.  OK it really was work.  I'm cleaning the wheels of my office chair in the puddle on the front porch while the rain is falling.  This cleans the wheels.  A black deposit (carbon) builds up rapidly here then the wheels leave black marks on the tile floor.
Carol made me go out in the rain!!!!

Bread fruit tree in our neighborhood.  We see it each time we walk.
The green globes are the bread fruit.  There's one up and a little to the left of the picnic table.
This is the season for the bread fruit, it's in all the grocery stores.

 Roughing it in Barbados?
This has got to be the way to rough it - Kentucky Fried Chicken, Coca Cola, palm trees, and the waves crashing on the beach.

 Texas has nothing on us.
This cockroach got a scream out of Sister Moore.  I don't know why, just because it's a inch and a half long!!!!  It was running around in the kitchen with Sister Moore right behind screaming.
Well at least it wasn't chasing her.
