Medical Scare!!

On 17 Oct. Carol had a routine medical exam.  On 21 Oct. the doctor called and said that there were things that he would like a more extensive evaluation done on.  On 22 Oct. Carol had a wonderful Priesthood blessing in which she was promised that everything would be OK.  During the Priesthood blessing we felt the Lord's presence very near.  On 25 Oct. Carol went in for the more extensive evaluation and was given a clean bill of health.  I know that the Lord sure does bless us when we are striving to the things he has asked us to do.  Going on this mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve God's children is certainly doing what he has asked of us.

LDS General Conference Oct 5-6, 2013

On Saturday 5 Oct 2013 we watched the LDS General Conference on television.  After the afternoon session we left to go to Utah where we stayed with Martha Slaughter (our daughter Carolynn's mother-in-law).
Here we watched the Sunday morning session and then left to go to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend the Sunday afternoon session.
Our tickets to attend the afternoon session of General Conference.

Panic Sets In!!!!!

27 Aug 2013 Dominican Republic?
What?  We thought we were going to the West Indies Mission!!!!!
We called the mission travel office in Salt Lake City, Utah, and sent them an email.  This just can't be right.  We received an email back saying that there must have been a system malfunction and that they would send the proper Visa Applications for the West Indies Mission.  We soon received the right Visa Applications for Trinidad and Guyana.

Mission Call

Monday 12 Aug 2013
Our Mission call came today.
Nairn was working so Carol had to walk by the envelope all day long wishing she could open it to see where we were called to serve.  We had made plans to go to the Logan, Utah LDS Temple to open the call.  So the next day Tuesday 13 Aug 2013 we went to the Temple and opened our Mission call in the waiting room.  We were pleasantly surprised to read that we had been called to serve as the Humanitarian Country Office Specialist in the West Indies Mission.
After opening our Mission call we went through an endowment session and then did sealings.  What a great day.

Here we are with our Mission calls.

Visit to Yellowstone National Park, June 24-26, 2013

Nairn and Carol at the Gate.

The bison were out with their calves.

The elk were out with their calves.

Walking one of the paths to an overview of the falls we saw this fallen tree with a rock stuck in the roots Carol gives an idea of the size.

Here we are at the Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

The elk were beautiful and close.

And tasted very good.  Here we are eating elk Pizza.

The deer were not scared of the people,

At the top of Uncle Tom's trail.  This trail leads to the bottom of the Lower Falls.

Carol on the stairs on Uncle Tom's Trail.  Part of the 328 steps leading to the observation platform for the Lower Falls.

What visit would be complete without seeing Old Faithful?

And of course we had to have Huckleberry ice cream at the Yellowstone Lodge.
