Our 20th Anniversary

20 years ago on our honey moon we went on a cruise.  One of the stops was at Grand Cayman, where we went on an Atlantis submarine tour.  So for our 20th anniversary we went on an Atlantis submarine tour in Barbados.

The submarine was not at the dock.  We had to take a catamaran out to get on board for our dive.  Sister Moore didn't even get sea sick.

Now, that's a good looking couple.

Just a couple of OLD tourists.  Still smiling after 20 years.

Sailing ship we saw on the way out to the submarine.

The submarine coming up from the previous dive.

Under the water.

Down in the sea.

Sunken barge.  This barge was used to transport water out to ships when they came into Barbados.  It was sunk after its useful life was over.

That's a long way to the surface.

Sometimes we have to rough it.

We sometimes have to stay in really rough conditions.  NOT.

The Kalinago Hotel.  We did not make reservations here.  We were going to stay next door at the Gem Holiday Resort but they had a return customer and asked if we would be okay with an upgrade to a real hotel.  It was a tough decision but we said ok.

Good thing 13 is our lucky number.  This is our room.

Mural on the wall in the breezeway.

Some more of the mural.

Flowers outside the hotel.

One of the more quiet guests.  Actually they were all pretty quiet.  Must have been a senior hotel!!!

Just off the beach.  "Maybe next time". NOT

Sister Moore with a calabash (green cannonball).

View from the window of our room.

Very enjoyable.  We did actually have time to get in the water and have some fun.

Well it wasn't all work in Grenada

We went to Church in Grenada.  After the regular Sunday meetings we used a power point presentation to teach about the Church Humanitarian System.

Part of our group of participants in the Humanitarian training.

Sister Moore outside the Chapel.

How would you like this view when you drive into the Chapel parking lot?

Okay, now off to have some fun, but not on Sunday.  The following are places and things we saw as we went around the island.

Grenada has monkeys.

Some are big and others are small.  Which is the monkey?

The waterfalls.

Grand Etang Lake, an extinct volcano crater lake.

Looking good.

At Grand Etang Lake.

We stopped at a Cocoa Plantation for lunch, here we can see them drying the Cocoa beans.  No samples but the food was excellent.

On to Grenada to Actually Work on Humanitarian.

We headed off to Grenada to look for Humanitarian Projects and to teach the local leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints about the Humanitarian System.

View of Barbados as we leave.  Sure looks flat, but we know different, just look at the previous post.

Flying over the clouds.

That's Grenada.

Richmond Home for the Elderly.  This is where we hope to do a project which will assist the residents.  This home is run by the government of Grenada and provides care for elderly people who would otherwise be on the street.  The building is part of an old British fort.  The current structure was rebuilt after a Hurricane destroyed it several years ago.

Look at the wall. I said it was old.

We went to the North end of the island to look at the Samaritan Presbyterian Primary School. Checking for another project.

This area they hope to make into a computer room.  This will help the students come into the latest century and enhance their learning experience.

Just one of the classrooms.

Another classroom.

This one has 2 classes in it meeting at the same time.  Notice the classroom divider.

Just wish we could solve all the problems, but just not enough money.  Here the roof was leaking.  They hope to get the money to fix this through some fund raising ventures. Even with all the problems we could see the principal was very upbeat and proud of this school.  He showed us around the school with evident pride.

Ya cain't jes go once to de Animal Flower Cave

Just had to go up to the north end of Barbados again.  The waves crashing and the scenery are spectacular.

The seas always seem rough here on the north end.

Wonder how much rock is under our feet?  Hope it's a lot.  Looking through a hole to a cave below.

Siting at the new restaurant eating lunch.  Great view and at the right time you might even see a whale pass by.

Been wondering what these are since we got here.  Answer will appear later.

How about this for putting the cows out to pasture.  Each one is on a leash.  "Don't fence me in."

This formation used to be at sea level.  It is now about 60 feet above sea level.  The island keeps getting higher.

Who says Barbados is flat?  This is up in the Scotland District on the East coast, the oldest part of Barbados.

Another view of the hills of Scotland (Barbados).

You just know a farm boy from Idaho has to take a picture of round bales.

Okay, look at the structure.  See the cylindrical shape supporting the windmill.  That is what the previous structure is.  It's the base for a windmill.  These windmills were used to power the machinery to crush the sugarcane for processing.

The above is the Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill.  It is the only operating windmill on Barbados.

Great time touring Barbados and seeing more of the sites.
